about me

Hello, my name is Daniel.

I compulsively write about topics that interest me:

For a snapshot of what I’m doing right now, see my Now page. I also maintain a separate site, etc.ficd.sh, where I write about manga, Japanese language, and other non-technical interests.

academics

I’m a Master’s student researching authentication systems. My thesis introduces a timing–based method for detecting relay attacks against MFA schemes such as app–based authenticators and FIDO.

personal work

All of my personal work is open source. Most of it consists of small, focused tools that make my own workflow better. I also contribute to projects and ecosystems that I love.

Some highlights:

what I care about

I like software that is small, understandable, clearly scoped, and well behaved. I prefer tools I can reason about end–to–end. I am happiest when editing text, writing scripts, and making my environment more efficient.

this website

This website is my personal blog and digital home. It’s listed on 1mb.club and no-js.club. The theme is Ashen. The site is generated using zona, and developed, built, and deployed on my own infrastructure.
