Mathematicians should look into the history of chess after Kasparov/DeepBlue. It mirrors the situation very closely: Kasparov accused IBM of cheating, and many chess players despaired and feared the end of chess. Eventually Kasparov came around and advocated for “centaur chess”.
I honestly think AI is a top 3 technology in human history, up there with fire and the wheel. I genuinely have trouble understanding why people have such a problem with it.
