    It's interesting how much higher-order looking code you can write while still being first-order (or close to it). Two recently released languages (Bend2 and Goose), have severe restrictions on HOFs and yet that doesn't seem to affect day to day code too much.

    Goose: my latest programming language. Safer, faster and less memory than Rust/C++ for algorithms where tightly packed, flat data structures matter. It can represent more kinds of data structures as flat, pointer-free bytes than any language I know. github.com/aardappel/goose 1/
