The stories on this are written like this was a theft from Spotify.
It was not.
It was a theft of royalties from real artists, and the real fans who paid to listen to those real artists. Spotify’s losses were marginal at best.
NYU math professor Tristan Buckmaster says OpenAI’s Tuesday drop of 722 AI-generated math papers wiped out entire research programs:
“This recent dump of papers on Tuesday destroyed the careers of early career mathematicians.”
I've written extensively about this. There is a very simple solution: user-centric royalty distribution. The only artists who get your subscription dollars are the ones you listen to. The financial incentive for bot accounts goes to $0.
Forget neurons and consciousness. Is a simulation of a cell actual life? In other words can you simulate every part of a cell such that you can say the simulation is now alive?
The point stands though. With enough compute it's traceable. No evidence the same is true for biological neurons afaik because it seems they at least partially rely on or benefit from quantum effects.
