The Federation of Environmental Organisations of Cyprus (OPOK) has called for an environmental assessment and public consultation before any final decision is taken on antennas at Akrotiri.
New antennas at the British bases in Akrotiri cannot be put up until a full environmental assessment is carried out followed by a public debate, the federation of environmental organisations (Opok) said on Wednesday.

The case relates to an investigation launched in 2025 after the suspect was reportedly observed near the British military bases at Episkopi-Akrotiri, as well as Paphos airport and the Andreas Papandreou airbase.
It added that “the requirement is for air raid warning sirens that can cover the distance of RAFAkrotiri and Akrotiri village for community warning” ... Akrotiri was hit by an Iranian-made drone in March.
