Hi, I'm

John!👋

I'm an Academic and Cyber Security consultant.

Ireland-born, Devon-raised, and now Birmingham-based. This post-industrial city I call home boasts 35 miles of canals (to Venice's meager 26!) Let's take a short journey along one now.

About

Who I am

I'm a multi-disciplinary academic with a focus on the intersection of Cyber Security and Distributed Systems, and a rich portfolio of related industry experience from startups through to Fortune 5 companies.

Skills

Computer networks, network security, application security, AI guardrails, telecomms.

Hobbies

Track Cycling, Natural Bodybuilding, travelling, fine food (and wine!), and the session.

Music, Art & Fashion

Outside of my other hobbies, I have a particular passion for music, particularly post-Hardcore, revival emo, and metalcore, as well as archive Japanese and European fashion. I never said I can dress well however!

A rather sparse section I concede, but nobody really reads these anyway...

Four hundred yards of concrete, no daylight and six lanes of traffic overhead. Headlamp on, keep her straight, and mind your head on the way out.
